In Search of Learning

STEM as the Science of Learning Applied
March 16, 2023  |  9am to 1pm

How do you improve an organization, be it a classroom, school, school district, or department? We tend to look at STEM as a topic for students but there are also several science disciplines that include research on learning and the research applies with minor modifications to all of those organizations and the individuals in them. This 4 hour session is sponsored by the Alabama Association for Curriculum Development (AASCD). It begins at 9 AM and ends at 1 PM. It is being held at the Elmore County School District Board Room on March 16 and looks at topics like conformity and confidence in the book How to Change by Katy Milkman and mental mindsets in the book Thinking, Fast and Slow. The session examines these topics through the lenses of science, entertainment, learning, and economics and then discusses how they can be applied to organizational improvement. There will be follow-on materials designed to stimulate thinking about how to change.
